Membrane Bioreactor Sewage Treatment Plant (MBR)

Membrane Bioreactor Sewage Treatment Plant (MBR)

Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) is a Sewage treatment technology that combines biological treatment (activated sludge) with
submerged membrane filtration. It produces high-quality effluent suitable for reuse or discharge.
In MBR, fine membranes up to 0.04 micron are submerged in activated sludge tank or in separate membrane holding tank.
Membrane retains all biomass, suspended solids, some viruses in tank allowing cleaner water to pass through it. Treated water
is very high quality effluent with turbidity <= 1 NTU.
Advantages of MBR
 High-quality effluent – suitable for water reuse.
 Compact footprint – smaller space than conventional systems.
 Reduced sludge production.
 No need for secondary clarifiers.
